Remember, remember, the 5th of November, gunpowder treason and plot... but Guy Fawkes' story begins long before that fateful day in 1605 when he was arrested for attempting to blow up parliament.
Guy was born on this very spot in 1570, in the shadow of the Minster, and was baptised in the church across the street.. Many centuries have since passed, but this fine building is so well preserved you could be forgiven for thinking it was only yesterday.
Real ales, traditional pub meals, gas-lamps and timber floors all combine with this heritage to create one of the most characterful pubs in Britain.
